We are Heartbroken

Gun violence is a reproductive justice issue

We are heartbroken by today’s tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, where two children lost their lives and many more were injured.

No child should ever fear for their safety in a classroom, at worship, or in any part of their community. Yet once again, families are grieving, communities are shaken, and we are reminded that gun violence is a reproductive justice issue. Families cannot thrive when the basic right to safety is denied.

At Pro-Choice Minnesota, we stand with our Minneapolis community in grief and in resolve. We mourn alongside parents, teachers, faith leaders, and neighbors, and we recommit to building a Minnesota where every child can live, learn, and grow up in peace.

This tragedy underscores the urgent need for action. Together, we must demand policies that keep families safe, support communities impacted by violence, and affirm the right of every person to raise children free from the constant threat of harm.

👉 Here’s how you can stand with us today:

  • Take action. Contact your legislators and demand stronger gun violence prevention measures. [Insert link to action alert or partner org if available]

  • Support survivors and families. Consider donating to local relief funds or volunteer efforts that will emerge in the coming days.

We know this is heavy, and we hold space for the sorrow so many are feeling. In community and solidarity, we also hold on to hope—and the belief that change is possible when we come together.
