Organization: NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota is the largest statewide grassroots organization dedicated solely to protecting the right to choose. We work at the state and local level to ensure that Minnesota’s women have access to safe, legal, and affordable reproductive healthcare. Internships with NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota are a fun way to boost your resume while gaining valuable experience with a non-profit advocacy organization. Summary: NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota is looking for a creative, upbeat, resolutely pro-choice student to fill the position of Summer Outreach Coordinator. Outreach into the community is a key part of our electoral and legislative strategy and being visible through the state during the summer is a fun simple way to talk to our friends and allies. Responsibilities Include: ü Seeking out tabling opportunities at different events (concerts, festivals, etc.), with an emphasis on events in the suburbs and greater Minnesota ü Networking with communities of color to understand suitable outreach and messages. ü Recruitment and turnout of volunteers walking in parades and setting up a booth at festivals. ü Supplying volunteers with the information they need (training and logistics). ü Set-up and take-down of festival booth for about 6 summer festivals. ü Keeping a detailed record of volunteers, donations, and outreach supply inventory. ü Follow-up and thank volunteers after each of their shifts. ü Must be available during every Summer Outreach event. Some events include: o PrideFest in Minneapolis – June o PrideFest in Mankato – August o PrideFest in Rochester – July o PrideFest in Duluth - September ü Must have own transportation and be able to lift heavy items. Qualifications & Skills: This internship spans the summer and is performed in the St. Paul office of NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota, and some time on your own computer. A commitment to reproductive rights, strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. Interns must be able to work independently with regular (but distance) supervision and assistance. Experience working with campus (or community) -based groups and/or volunteers is required. Flexibility and the ability to quickly respond to new developments is required. Festival dates are required.
