Be a full-time or part-time pro-choice canvasser! Help us mobilize, educate and recruit pro-choice consitituents in Twin Cities metro communities. Staff start at $10/hour, plus performance bonuses, benefits, and annual raises. Paid training period included.

Also, we've got lots of information from our successful summer and need part-time, temporary help to help with data entry.

Internship Positions:
Campus Organizer

Organization: NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota is the largest statewide grassroots organization dedicated solely to protecting the right to choose.  We work at the state and local level to ensure that Minnesota’s women have access to safe, legal, and affordable reproductive healthcare.  Internships with NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota are a way to gain valuable experience with a non-profit advocacy organization and build grassroots organizing skills. 

 

Summary: The Student Organizer is responsible for overseeing NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota’s Student Organizing Program, which includes supervising campus interns, working with students to develop plans for campus and community based activities, and acting as the liaison between the Campus Representatives and the NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota staff.

 

Responsibilities:

 

t       Provide direct supervision for Campus Representatives, including regular communications (phone calls and e-mails) and periodic site visits.

t       Provide training opportunities for Campus Representatives.

t       Responsible for working with students to establish individualized work plans for the school year.

t       Supplying students with the support and materials needed to implement their work plan.

t       Serve as the liaison between the Campus Representatives and the NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota staff.

t       Work with staff to maintain a strong student organizing program in Minnesota, with an emphasis on Greater Minnesota campuses and community colleges.

t       Work with staff to prepare regional project reports, tracking documents, and updates as needed.

 

Qualifications:

 

t                   Strong commitment to reproductive rights;

t                   Experience working with progressive campus-based groups;

t                   Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively;

t                   Strong written and verbal communication skills;

t                   Experience working with and/or supervising volunteers a plus;

t                   Website/social networking knowledge preferred.

 

Position:       Student Organizer

Reports to:   Organizing Director

Location:       Saint Paul, MN. Travel required, especially to greater MN.

Salary:                   Monthly stipend of $400

Hours:         Approx. 20-25 hours/week. Start date is August 15, 2008.

Campus Representative
NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota believes in the power of the student voice! We recognize the need to train new pro-choice leaders and we've developed a Student Organizing program that reflects that.

NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota's Student Organizing program hires interns and works with pro-choice students at fourteen colleges throughout the state to educate and activate students on campus.

NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota is currently looking for energetic and enthusiastic pro-choice people to fill Campus Representative internships at these colleges:

Fergus Falls Community College

Hamline University
Metropolitain University
Minneapolis Community Technical College
Ridgewater College

NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota will work with your college to get college credit for the internship.  These are paid internships.

An energetic personality and strong pro-choice stance are the only requirments.

Communications Intern
NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota is looking for a creative, upbeat, resolutely pro-choice student to fill the position of Communications Coordinator. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota’s online organizing efforts such as updating of organization’s website, MySpace, and Facebook pages and blogs. Maintain organization’s website constantly so it is up-to-date and accurate.

This is an unpaid internship.

Diversity Project Coordinator

NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota is looking for a creative, upbeat, resolutely pro-choice person to fill the position of Diversity Project Coordinator (DPC).  The Diversity Project Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota’s organizing efforts around comprehensive sexuality education legislation including postcards, petitions and story collection in communities of color.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

ü       Seeking out tabling opportunities at different events (concerts, festivals, etc.), specifically in urban communities of color.

ü       Networking with communities of color to understand suitable outreach and messages.

ü       Recruitment and turnout of volunteers walking in parades and setting up a booth at festivals.

ü       Supplying volunteers with the information they need (training and logistics).

ü       Creating Choice Action Teams (CAT’s) in urban communities of color.

Media Intern
NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota is looking for a creative, upbeat, resolutely pro-choice student to fill the position of Media Intern.  The Media Intern will be responsible for producing NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota’s newsletter and for following current events and documenting issues on reproductive rights and health as they occur.  They will also respond to articles and issues through letters to the editor and coordinate LTE campaigns.
 
This internship spans one academic semester with the option of continuing the internship based off of interest and performance.  The internship will be completed at the NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota’s office and on your own computer.   A commitment to reproductive rights, strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.  Experience, comfort and familiarity with Microsoft Office Products is required.  Interns must be able to work independently with regular (but distant) supervision and assistance.
