Contact Your Legislators Now to Support Sex Ed!
Let’s Talk Month is a chance for you to talk…to your legislators. Despite support from many elected officials for sexuality education for our youth, at the close of the 2007 Legislative Session, many lawmakers caved under the pressure of Governor Pawlenty’s veto threat and abandoned the sexuality education bill in the eleventh hour. It is time to hold all of our legislators accountable for the decisions they make. Tell your legislators to stand up to the Governor, and stand up for Minnesota’s youth. TAKE ACTION: Send you Legislator a Letter TODAY and tell your representative you support comprehensive sex education and want to see a bill passed in 2008. Click here to find your state Representative and their contact information. Sample Message: Dear (decision maker), As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to stand up to Governor Pawlenty and stand up for Minnesota’s youth by ensuring they have the information, education and skills they need to make responsible life decisions. Despite widespread support for the sexuality education bill in the 2007 Legislative Session, many lawmakers caved under the pressure of Governor Pawlenty’s veto threat and abandoned the sexuality education bill in the eleventh hour. I ask that you represent the eighty-eight percent (88%) of Minnesota parents who want comprehensive, medically accurate, age-appropriate sexuality education taught in all Minnesota schools and support this important public health issue. * Once you have written the letter, email melissar@prochoiceminnesota.org with your representative's name.
