UPDATE! On May 23, 14 moderate Republicans and Democrats came to a compromise that averted the unprecedented action to remove the filibuster option. The compromise allows three of Bush's controversial nominees to receive votes. Pro-choice Minnesotans must now focus on defeating the nominations of William Pryor, Priscilla Owen, and Janice Rogers Brown. Get details here! Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) is pushing an effort to allow President Bush to pack the courts with extremist judges. He wants to use the "nuclear option" to take away pro-choice Democrats’ most powerful line of defense against extremist judges: the filibuster. The Senate has been debating the use of the filibuster since Wednesday, May 18. The Nuclear Option could be pulled by Frist at any time of his choosing. TAKE ACTION
