Al Franken Win Marks a Pro-Choice Victory for Minnesota
On June 30, 2009, the Minnesota Supreme Court declared Al Franken the victor in the United States Senate race.
Speaking at a victory rally on the Capitol grounds earlier today, Franken reflected on the close race, and thanked all of his supporters for their work during the campain and the nearly eight months since election night.
"Sen-elect Franken will be a strong advocate for women's reproductive freedom," said Linnea House, Executive Director, "and we look forward working with him as he represents our pro-choice values in Washington, D.C."
During the 2008 election cycle, NARAL Pro-Choice Minnesota held a rally in support of Franken, as well as contacted over 30,000 member-activists in Minnesota, highlighting the contrast between Franken and anti-choice incumbent Norm Coleman.
